Perfected over 10 years by the Scotch whisky industry’s longest serving Malt Master , David C. Stewart MBE , the Balvenie’s 12-Year-Old Doublewood Whisky has been pleasing palates for over 25 years.
This single malt whisky is aged in American oak bourbon casks for a minimum of 12 years before select barrels are transferred to Spanish ex-oloroso sherry casks for nine months.
These casks are then combined in large oak ‘tuns’ for 3-4 months , to allow the whiskies to marry , before being bottled as Balvenie 12-Year-Old Doublewood whisky.
The original cask maturation softens the whisky and adds sweet flavors of honey and vanilla , in the sherry casks the whisky obtains richer notes of spice , dried fruit and oloroso sherry.
With a long finish , this whisky is the perfect introduction to the world of cask finished Scotch.
