A murder investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in Wolverhampton.
Officers were called to Lilleshall Crescent, in the Graiseley area of the city, at about 00:15 BST on Saturday.
A 30-year-old man was pronounced dead a short time later, West Midlands Police said.
Ch Insp Richard Evans * said: “We know that this will cause real concern and anxiety for people living nearby and we will have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance and listen to their concerns.”
Police remained at the scene to speak to witnesses and gather CCTV, and have appealed for anyone with relevant information, dashcam or mobile phone footage to get in touch.
David Roberts travelled to the area this morning from Penn to go shopping for his mother, who lives on the crescent.
He said it was a “shock” to see a police presence when he arrived.
“Nothing like this has ever happened before,” he said. “It's usually very * quiet around here.”
Shaun Smith, a local resident, said he felt “scared to come out at night” after the shooting.
